About The Circle
The Circle strives to promote self-sufficiency, connection, and practical skills in our community. At The Circle, all genders, races, religions, orientations, sizes, ages, lifestyles, and skill levels are welcomed as equals.
I created The Circle both as a response to the demand for sewing classes in my community, and as an answer to the wasteful, polluting, and outsourced textile industry. Nearly all materials used in my classes are locally thrifted, recycled, or donated, and most classes feature a section dedicated to mending, altering, and upcycling!
Meet your instructor!
Hi! I’m Kayla, a fiber artist, instructor, and the face behind The Circle!
I was born and raised in the Willamette Valley and I taught myself sew in middle school when I inherited my great-grandmother’s sewing machine. I have been sewing professionally for nearly six years and teaching sewing classes in Eugene for over four years. I taught through Eugene Parks & Rec at Petersen Barn Community Center and have recently transitioned to freelance teaching in an effort to expand my class offerings.
I am passionate about inclusive community building, environmental protection, and empowering others to create! When I’m not sewing, knitting, crocheting, or teaching, you can find me raising my six-year-old and two-year-old daughters, gaming, or listening to an audiobook or podcast.
